Shortlisted for the Gateways to Whitechapel Competition

Love Design Studio and our sister company, Shade the UK are part of a shortlisted team for the Gateways to Whitechapel competition, run by New London Architecture for London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Living Tapestry is a collaboration between GPAD, Beyond The Box CIC, Love Design Studio, Shade the UK, Jason Bruges Studio, BD Landscape Architects and Momentum Transport Consultancy.

Inspired by the many histories and stories of Whitechapel, our proposal looks to create joyful, climate-resilient spaces that bring people together and create new moments of connection for everyone, from market traders to local families.

Shaped by community insight, our proposal sets out a co-designed network of interventions including biodiverse planting and urban greening, shading, light installations and community-designed artworks to create a healthy, sustainable and welcoming public realm.

All 6 shortlisted proposals are now on display in a public exhibition at Tower Hamlets Town Hall.
