We are a team of built environment and sustainability specialists, drawing on engineering, architectural, academic, and scientific backgrounds. Together, we share a vision to create a more sustainable and equitable built environment for all.
We recognise the urgent need to cut carbon and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. We also understand our responsibility to respond to a climate that is already changing.
We support this transition through a range of environmental services. These include support for planning, energy and retrofit projects, climate-adaptation strategies for buildings and public spaces, zero-waste approaches, and sustainability certification.
Our approach is collaborative, practical and grounded in evidence. With more than 500 completed projects, we work as trusted partners to the organisations across built environment and the public sector.
We challenge conventional thinking, connecting the dots between disciplines, sectors and ideas. By looking at the world with a critical and curious eye, we uncover patterns in behaviour, systems and environments that help us question assumptions and create lasting impact.
Alongside our project work, we write, speak and collaborate with others on sustainable design to inspire action in a changing climate.
Our approach
Connecting the dots
Change requires unlikely partnerships, new coalitions and fresh perspectives. Together with our sister company, Shade the UK, we collaborate across disciplines with people and organisations who share our commitment to meaningful, lasting change.
Curious and considered
Our team is naturally curious and detail driven. We dive deep into every project to uncover new insight and opportunities that lead to better outcomes.
Telling the human story
Our work is genuinely shaped by the people we speak to, the communities we engage with and the stories they share. We know climate change is rooted in human experience, so we work with councils, charities and community groups to understand and address its impact on everyday life.
Research-led, data-driven
We combine practical experience with evidence-led insight. By communicating information clearly and thoughtfully, we bring clarity to complex issues and support better decision-making.
Responsive in an emerging field
We never stop learning. We continually refine and expand our expertise to bring fresh thinking and meaningful progress to our clients and the wider built environment.
Our ethos
Ethical and fair
We care deeply about the work we do and the impact it has. We make socially and ethically conscious choices, partnering with organisations that share our values and treat our team with respect.
Provocative in the pursuit of change
The built environment must evolve if we are to decarbonise and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. We are committed to supporting this transition and ready to challenge accepted norms in pursuit of meaningful change.
Trusted partners for climate resilience
We are a friendly, open-minded and hard-working team, bringing academic rigour, creative thinking and building-science expertise to every project.

Our sister company
Shade the UK
Shade the UK (CIC) is our sister organisation, focused on adapting buildings and public spaces to protect vulnerable people from the impacts of a changing climate. Shade the UK was founded in 2020 by Andy Love ahead of the record-breaking heatwave which resulted in an estimated 3000 excess deaths caused by hot weather.
Shade the UK’s guiding mission is to reach zero deaths from overheating in the UK and to ensure the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people is safeguarded during hot weather.
We work collaboratively to raise awareness of our changing climate, particularly hot weather and overheating, through campaigns, exhibitions, research, and practical resources, including technical guidance, reports and workshops for organisations supporting vulnerable communities.
