New climate research project with C40 Cities and the Greater London Authority (GLA)

Supporting cities to deliver equitable, cool futures for all

We are excited to share that Love Design Studio in collaboration with our sister company, Shade the UK, have been selected to deliver a new research project led by C40 Cities with the support of Carrier, in partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA).

The project supports C40’s global efforts to help cities deal with the impacts of extreme heat events and climate change. Aligned with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C target, the research will support cities and their leaders, including London Mayor Sadiq Khan, to help mitigate health related heat risks and shape effective, equitable cooling policies for all.

Over the next few months, we will be assessing current cooling energy demand across London. This will inform a ‘cooling roadmap’ to 2030, identifying targeted interventions to help cities and people stay cool as #heatwaves and hotter temperatures become more frequent. We’re proud to be working alongside such influential climate leaders and look forward to sharing more insights soon.

"Extreme heat is no longer a future threat, it is a present-day reality affecting lives across our cities. This research gives us a chance to shape practical, people-first solutions that cool our buildings, strengthen communities and safeguard public health." – Andy Love, Managing Director, Love Design Studio and Shade the UK
